The Ministry of Justice is now consulting on changes to bail and Release Under Investigation . This follows a sustained campaign by the Law Society and other groups over the scheme introduced in 2017 which has led to considerable delay for those suspected of offences as well as for those who have come forward as victims . It is also suggested that such a process has only masked the problems in the system and a lack of funding . Everyone is encouraged to respond to the consultation .
